Studio 54

Hi everyone,

The last couple of Studio 54 events have not had a great deal of uptake, which makes me ask the question "Is Studio 54 working, is it worth it?"

Studio 54 you can socialise with characters from other venues, however it doesn't add much value to your characters. A vampire can socialise with a mage, but they can't suddenly use each other as contacts or allies.

Each venue also has its own social scenes which allow you to socialise with characters in the same venue, meaning you can work on relationships with other pc's, npc's etc.

Honestly, I am opening this up for a community discussion and a vote. I have enabled it so that your vote can be changed if you change your mind.

Voting is open for 20 days, after that voting closes.

Discuss....

I like the option for the social events that cross the boundaries on special occasions. I just don't know if we have the population to support it currently.

I think we have the population to support it, you can put a character in or all of your characters its up to you. Sometimes half way through it just kind of gets abandoned and people sometimes stop responding.

Would you say close it until we get more players? What would be a good number?

Or potentially only maybe run 1 or 2 events a year until things pick up?

I agree with doing maybe 1-2 events a year (provided players don't have their own big social event they may wish to run).

I really don't know how to positively push player activity though.

Okay will say it:

54 is great but it needs more of a buy in from the player base. It's not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine but as the ST who's run around half of them it is frustrating to see scenes just trail away from inactivity or to have nobody respond to questions about what NPCs people would like involved or activities players would like to see.

So I propose that we pick two events and have them locked in. Maybe Valentine's Day and Halloween since those are established parties. They are run by the site's STs, can feature any NPCs and PCs, and will act as anchors for the 54 Venue.

I also propose that players be encouraged to work with the STs to create events, both within their venues and just as cool scenes for 54. I would suggest that any player creating and managing (or helping to manage) a scene be rewarded with 5 global XP.

I would also propose that the benefits of attending a 54 scene be changed. Instead of 1 global XP per PC attending it should be something such as 3 XP extra on each PC who fully participates in the scene, added to the PC with their end of month XP.

I like the idea of Characters Holding events a lot. Xp seems fair, considering that an event can lead to problems for the host (golly, I hope it does! :-D) At the very least Jeremy and Thomas from my side would be viable as hosts i believe (and I have thought about it, just waiting for an opportunity).

I agree though that Posting in Area 54 seems to be Slower in comparison.

See posting in 54 is generally hit or miss depending on the event and even the conversation. I've had/seen a few where there are posts every few hours and had others slow to barely a crawl. The factors are many, some players have not wanted to put certain PCs into certain scenes, others have not wanted to get involved in the larger community of the site, and often times events happen during times when RL is going crazy.

I never like putting more than 1 pc in. That way if things happen, its just on pc I have leaving foljs hanging, not 3. I just rotate out who I put in instead.

I usually put in 2 to 3 PCs and at least a few NPCs (more on request from players). Often times I'm doing that to provide as many conversation options as possible to hopefully draw in someone who was on the fence about putting a PC in and to push things if needed (RL has been kicking my ass on this last one though).

I've still never had anyone take me up on the NPC offer, which is disappointing because there are a number of cool NPCs who would be fun to grab a beer with.

I'm still getting used to everything, will definately take you up on your NPC offer in the next event.
This event, I only had 2 Chars, one of which would be sooner dead(er) than go to a party like that =D Next time might put in 2+ chars, we'll see.

I can totally understand being careful because you might drop out though. Things would have to be waaay unexpected though.
