Faith started to lead her towards a less visited route in the park. "Where do you live?"

An opened mouth; about to answer such a simple question as little more than routine; failed to form words. The girl paused mid-step to ponder such a thought. She had to live somewhere; but she couldn't seem to recall any such place.

"You seem to have a gentle ear. This little bird here; the one currently counting blades of grass; just landed here, as of this morning. From how she's acting so far," the once hidden bird now sat on the girls' head, and tapped at it for emphasis. "I'm pretty sure a couple of book worms found their way out of her noggin'; if you get my meaning."

As if stuck on a conundrum of life the girl scratched at her head, still looking for an answer to the question; mumbling off possible street names and numbers.

'We were on a bench eating a burrito, and then I just decided to take a walk,' the girl said as she straightened herself upright.

"See what i mean. I help her get free and she won't even remember it. If I wasn't so nice i'd fly away and leave a mark she wouldn't forget so quickly." The bird had its chest puffed out in a prideful manner. "Since I am so generous, i'm here to make sure she doesn't start sticking her feathers where she shouldn't."

'I can still hear you two from down here,' the girl said; still hunched over, and looking little more than a bored child. Then in a mumbling undertone she uttered, 'talking about me like I'm not even here.'

"Shush-ush, right now the adults are talking," the bird said in response.

'Wha- wait! You're a bird!'

"An adult bird. Now please; the grown-ups are trying to talk."

An obvious look of confusion could be seen on the girls' face at the birds' bizarre reasoning and strange inability to prove otherwise.

"Anyway, where wa- Fwah!" The bird was interrupted as it was swiped from its perch. "Just wait till next time I need to squat. You'll be sorry and I'll laugh; laugh! Hahaha!" the bird said with a spiteful tone, as it flew onto the shoulder of their guide. "You would think that after spending months in a cage singing all the time that that person would learn, to be a little more mature!" The last part was directed at the girl, who just stuck her tongue out and pulled at her eyelid in a mocking demeanor in response to the comment.

Faith sighed "She doesn't even seem to realize where she has escaped from. I can't really take her to my people, at this point she is a liability."

Faith smiled kindly at the girl. "Okay, I don't normally do this. However you and your friend here can stay with me for a bit. Before I take you to my place we need to have a chat."

"The place you were in before this bird came and...took you on a walk. It is a place called Arcadia. It is a bad place. The only way I can describe it is... It is a prison filled with nightmares. All of us had bad times there, some were worse than others. Where you are now, this is the real world. The place you were abducted from, more than likely as a child.

'If you feel you're walking alone, into a valley of the shadow of death;

stand tall and throw your head up high; looking up towards the sky.

and instead of wandering about; the harbingers of freedom will always know of a way out.'

The short lymric came out barely audible.

'I know that something's wrong with me,' the girl said as she lifted herself from counting the grass. 'It feels like I've just walked into a room and just forgot why I was there; or how I got there; or even what I did before. I've noticed there was- is something off with,' her eyes trailed to her hands, covered with feathers and thick calluses, 'me. Where as everyone else seems to be more, similar, to one another. Though I have no clue about this prison of nightmares, Alkatra... no, no, Arcadia? Then, what would you recommend Beatrice and I do?'

'Alright then; I'm game. Wanna talk about it over an early lunch? Can't say I know of too many good places around here,' she said acting innocently.

"Preferably someplace with outdoor seating," Beatrice added.
