I'm going on an adventure!... to get a Book (Wormwood)

Post#1 » November 20th, 2015, 9:36 pm

Wormwood went home first, to get some information and a change of clothes. After getting the adress, memorizing a few pictures and names of a number of people working there ("Oh glorious internet, we're sure to become best friends!", he thought) and a sandwich, he went disguise hunting in his wardrobe. He picked out one of his most disliked and weary-from-use baseball caps. He went for the Jogger-look, headphones and sunglasses included. He set the timer of his mobile for around the time he expected to be there + 10 minutes and chose Foo Fighters' "Learn to Fly". Sounds more convincing than the usual alarm sound if you wanted to pretend you were being called by someone.
It wasn't too far, but if he went jogging there he was sure to look the part. He picked Charlie Brown's Grill as his faked "Goal". People like to laugh about the stupid jogger that undoes all his work by stuffing himself immediately afterwards. Who knew, maybe he actually would go there. After making sure to have one earpiece broken so he would be hearing fine on his right side, he went on his way.
When Wormwood was close enough to 900 South Avenue to see the fences, he started going a little slower. He was keeping a look out of the corner of his eye, taking in all information he could. He especially was trying to see if there were hints of security dogs and tried to burn the cameras' position into his mind. No sight of guards yet. He damn sure hoped to see one of them. A little chat always provided so much information. Halfway through he stopped to catch his breath.
He did not need to fake that.

The Internet was not Wormwood's best friend, at least not today. In two hours of research he had managed to find obviously Photoshopped pictures of several celebrity's naked as well as a good deal on herbal Viagra. The Cat videos were amusing though.

The house itself was guarded, a higher end security firm had guards at the door and paroling the perimeter, 4 in total. There was also a state of the art alarm system which would connect to a control center and trigger a police call -out if set off.

The windows were double glazed and had upvc doors making it harder to break into and more than likely pick the lock. Several CCTV cameras sat around the house and high walls and security gates guarded the edge of the property.

"So much security, this really will take a while. Some social engineering will be necessary just to get passed the first measurements" Wormwood thought.
He sluggishly moved towards the closest patrol, hoping to get a good look at their face, maybe get them into a discussion.
If he could get a better view of the camera's angle, all the better.
Man, he hoped they were not the screaming kind.
He REALLY deserves his steak after this.

Sadly for Wormwood the patrols did not go near the fence, at least not in the patrol route. One of the guards at the door seemed to spot him and was keeping an eye on him. Still it gave him enough time to at least look at the cameras on the front of the house and enable him to roughly plot out their line of sight. There were a few blind spots but at the front of the house there were none that were going to be of use. As soon as he went through the gate he was going to be picked up, same if he managed to get over the front fence.

Wormwood considered forcing the guard to take action, but decided against it for now. Staying on task like that was a sign of being highly professional, so simple tricks like a pizza delivery probably would not work. He decided, against his bodies desire, to jog around the whole area. This way, he would gain a better idea of the whole complex and not just the front. Most of all, though, he was looking for a place he could use for surveillance.
"Afterwards", he tought, "I grab something to eat, get a change of clothes and observe a little. I'll decide what to do next, then."

Sadly the jog around the perimeter was not as productive as Wormwood would have hoped, maybe it was the jogging, maybe he just wasn't with it this evening. Seeing the back of the house was a challenge, there was no alley to go down to get a good look. However he did notice he would need to climb a few fences and make a move across 3 other houses back yards to get to the house in question.

Jeremy was frustrated by the slow progress and decided to go to Charlie Brown's Grill to grab something to eat. Since it was relatively close and had a good reputation, he might see some of Matteo's staff there, go at it from a different angle. If not, at least he would get his belly filled and some new energy. He would think about what he is going to do after he had some delicious steak.

Mmmh, steak.

Charlie Brown's Grill was easy enough to find, the food was quick and the service friendly.

Having renewed his strength, Wormwood decided to go back to his place to find and prepare his instruments. The job should be done quickly? Fine. He will give it one more look to verify the information he gathered so far and should no other oppurtunity present itself, he will break in and get that book out of there tomorrow night. He made sure to remember the face of the waiter, tough.
If he should get caught, there would be little sense in being recognized as himself, now would there?
On his way home, Wormwood jogged past his target to give it another glance to make sure he did not miss anything special.

Wormwood doesn't gain any new information by jogging past. He makes it back to his home easy enough, everything was as he would expect to find it however this was the first time he had been here. The landlord had left the key in the location that was specified and any items he had sent ahead were still in their boxes sitting in the living room where the landlord had no doubt placed them.

The evening gave wormwood time to prepare his tools, unpack any that needed to be unpacked. It also gave him time to sit and contemplate ways he could get more information.

(Do me a Wits + Investigation roll. I will list things he can think of to get more info)
